September 30 Meeting: Best Practices for File Management and Workflows


Consider the following scenario: A co-worker comes to you and says, “Do you remember that project we did 2 years ago, and it had the picture of a squirrel? Well, I need some of the other photos we took that day. Can you find them for me?” Would you be able to help? What if you could?

Consider the following questions:

  • Do you ever lose files?
  • Or have a hard time finding specific information inside your files?
  • Do you have proper backup (both onsite and offsite)?
  • Would you like to get a better handle on managing your files and projects?
If the answer to these questions (even just one of them) is YES, then you’ll benefit from our next meeting on September 30. Three different speakers will share with us their hard-learned lessons, from deep within the trenches of production. We’ll show you tools and workflows to better manage your assets including; single user workflows, small team setups, and strategies for larger groups (including digital asset management.) We will also show some examples of file/folder structures to help keep your files tidy and organized. We’ll show off some of our favorite tools including:

• Pathfinder (what the Mac Finder should’ve been in the first place)
• Getting the most from Adobe Bridge (including the photo importer)
• Using batch renaming tools in Adobe Bridge and A Better Finder Renamer
• Automated backup and syncing solutions
• Adobe Acrobat to create full document indexes of entire folders
• Using tags, keywords, metadata and file ranking to better organize your files
